What is an online associate degree?

While there are many community colleges that offer associate degree programs, you can now receive an accredited A.S. degree from an online college. Online associate's degrees are often less expensive, can be completed in less time and gives you the ability to get your education from your home. According to the National Center for Education Statistics, over half of all degrees earned online are associate's degrees. There are many fields of interest that only require an A.S. degrees.

An online associate degree program is an undergraduate degree that requires 60 credit hours and consists of general education requirements, major requirements, and electives. One of the best advantages of an online degree is that you can complete your course at your convenience, day or night. A full time study is generally completed in 4 semesters (15 credit hours per semester). There are Accelerated online degree programs that can cut down this time depending on the student and available time allowed. The accredited online associate’s degree is the same as an on-campus associates degree from most employer’s perspectives.
